Art has been a part of Margaret's life since her experience as a high school student in Illinois when her pencil portraits were part of the upstate art exhibit, having been selected from over 2400 students.  After retiring from a career as a photojournalist and professional photographer, Margaret returned to her passion for drawing and delved head first into oil painting.

In her own words:  "Oil painting has given me the joy and tactile pleasure that I didn't experience with photography.  there is just something about the feel of the oils when you put brush to canvas."  She feels that oil painting has given her a whole new look on life and pulls inspiration from the beauty she sees in everyday life.  As she puts it:  "Beauty can't be planned, just absorbed and appreciated."  Margaret lives and works in Ocean Shores where her work is currently on display.
