Julie Dexter was a floral designer for 45 years working with many flower shops in Ballard and Seattle Washington.  After moving to Ocean Shores, she opened and managed Beach Bouquets, a successful local flower business, from 2009 to 2014.  She retired in 2015 to travel and pursue personal art projects.

Julie loves to work with her hands.  After seeing a display of Native American art, she became fascinated with hand woven pine needle baskets and embarked on an art journey that has since become a passion.  She uses primarily long-leaf pine needles from Ponderosa Pines native to Northern California, where she and her husband have gone on camping trips specifically to collect materials for her art.

Weaving both traditional and non-traditional designs, Julie always adds a personal flair.  Colored thread, sea shells, and semi-precious stones are just a few ways she enhances her unique creations.  Julie recently began displaying her work at The Gallery of Ocean Shores where she’s an active member of the North Beach Artist Guild.
