Brent has been a photographer since the age of 12. Growing up the son of a successful portrait photographer, Ken Whitmire. At 13, he had a life changing experience, when he flew with his father around Mt. St. Helens in May of 1980. He worked as a darkroom technician printing for his father’s studio from the age of 15. He studied photography in school, interned at studios internationally, and was a member of the 
Professional Photographers of Washington from the age of 13 until his mid 30s. Brent entered yearly competitions, won many merits and trophies, attended many conventions, and seminars.
He photographed Camp WannaComeBack in 1987, the Canadian Cancer Society’s Summer event for children with Cancer.
In 1989, Brent was invited to be a staff photographer for the Canada Games in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where he was in charge of both the swimming and diving, and the cycling events.
He processed film, and worked as an assistant for Mary Ellen Mark in 1995, while she illustrated an article for the New Yorker Magazine.
Brent wrote the first draft of his first screenplay in 1997.
In 2000 while he was working for RollingStone.com, he photographed the Grand Opening for the Experience Music Project. A three day concert festival, he photographed James Brown, Bootsie Collins, Matchbox 20, No Doubt, Eminem, Kid Rock, Metallica, Alanis Morissette, Filter, Ann Wilson, 
The Eurythmics, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. In the first weekend it was up, Brent’s EMP Grand Opening pages received over a million hits. He worked with the magazine website for the next two years, photographing about a hundred performers.
Brent photographed Grammy Winner, Mathew West and his wife and daughter, for their family portrait in 2005.
He worked with Vanderbilt University and the Kennedy Center in 2006, 
and created a photo essay of a week long music camp event in Nashville for people with Williams Syndrome for the families as well as for promotion of the event.
Back in Washington, in 2006, Brent was an unofficial consultant 
on press relations and procedure to the company promoting and facilitating the Sasquatch Concert Festival at The Gorge, in George.
He wrote the second draft of his first screenplay, and the first draft of his second in 2008.
In 2010-2011 Brent went to Seattle Film Institute and studied screenwriting.
During all this time, he has been influenced by photographers he’s met and worked with, like Mary Ellen Mark, Gregory Heisler, Cole Weston, and family and friends, Jigger Schmidt, John Kasinger, Gene Hattori, and his father, Ken Whitmire, and people he hasn’t met, like, Ansel Adms, and Edward Weston.
Today, Brent has written six screenplays, and is formulating his seventh. In photography, he is concentrating on fine art photography, a passion that has followed him his whole life.
Brent lives in Bellevue, Washington, with his wife, Diane, and his three step children, Nicole, Emma, and Max.
