Lora Malakoff is a noted oil painter, her work has been published in several books about art and her work has garnered her many awards through the decades. You may know her sculpture in Aberdeen Washington, ‘As You Were' honoring Kurt Cobain at his memorial park. Her oil paintings depict the special light and energy of nature, she draws on nature for inspiration. Her oil paintings of skies are quite intense as she utilizes her deep knowledge of color to make them glow like there is a light shining through the canvas.

Originally from Alaska, Lora now resides on the North Olympic Peninsula in Washington, where she paints and sculpts in her studio. Lora started painting at a very young age and explored many mediums with vigor through the decades, but oil painting and sculpture are where the bulk of her creative work is accomplished. She moved to Washington in her early 20s, studied visual communications at the Art Institute of Seattle. There she began her career as a graphic designer. Now in her 50’s, Malakoff owns and publishes two newspapers, the Northern issue and Southern issue of the Seniors Sunset Timesand Living Well resource guide for seniors. As busy as being a publisher keeps her, she finds her joy at the easel in her spare time, occasionally teaching workshops and supporting local art guilds, artists, galleries and art events.  Lora was a director for the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center for several years, chaired the Aberdeen Art Walk and has sponsored and participated in many local gallery events. You can see Lora’s art at several galleries including the Gallery of Ocean Shores, the Aldergrove Galleryin Aberdeen, The One of a Kind Galleryin Port Angeles, the AAOS Fall Gala and the sculpture garden at Westport Winery, the Kurt Cobain Memorial Park in Aberdeen.  Malakoff is a supporting member of many art guilds in Washington State and the Facebook page Gallery of Misfit Artists.
